Royal Chester Rowing Club took two trailers loaded with boats to the Northwich Head of the River Weaver Race on Sunday and return weighed down with winners medals.
Racing over the 2250m course the club first eight were winners of the Walter Benyon Trophy for the fastest crew on the day, 48 seconds ahead of the second placed Northwich eight. This is the third year in a row that Royals have dominated this race.

Royals have considerable strength in depth with Juniors and Masters also picking up medals. Linfield (J16) and M Flood (WJ13).
The Women’s Master Masters crew of Jane Sweeney, Irene Adam, Nicki Miller and Helen Tweed with cox Jo Hinnigan also picked up medals, continuing their winning run from 2016.
